4th of July

Fireworks and Sousa...nothing is more American than that. Okay, maybe homemade ice-cream and apple pie. Both very delicious! I think the 4th of July is one of the most fun holidays (other than Christmas and Easter!) there is. It's a time when everyone, unless of course you are UnAmerican, feels blessed and free. The boom and sizzle of the fireworks brings out the kid in all of us as we stare at the sky and OHHH! and AHHH! over the beautiful sights that we see! It's an incredible feeling to see the wonderment in the eyes of a six-year old and to hear him recite that "all men are created equal and that we all have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." The pursuit of happiness...that's what its all about, as long as you pursue that happiness with GOD by your side and with GOD in your sights...something I am learning to do more and more. It's an amazing feeling. To know that at my age, (no, I am not THAT old) that GOD is not done with me, he is still there and working in me and for me. More and more I realize that I am happiest when I rest in him and ENJOY the life he has given me. I try not to stress as much and to find laughter in everything. I admit, sometimes, it isn't easy, but like I said, he is still working in me!

With that said, I think of my grandfather, my late Great-grandfather, and my late uncle, who all served in the armed forces. My late great grandfather even changed the year he was born on his birth certificate so that he could join the military a year or two (who really knows?) early. A commitment to this country that I am forever grateful. To see a man or woman in uniform is a terrific thing...thank them not only today, but any time you see them!

I am thankful for my freedom and for this amazing country we live in! I am even more thankful for God and the joy he has placed in my life and in my heart this day!

Love and blessings,

teresa
